Mt. Taylor

Today Jack had an early morning soccer game.  And because our day was otherwise "empty" we decided to take a road trip.  So after the game, we headed west on I-40 to Mt. Taylor (it's about an hour west of ABQ near the town of Grants).  We drove up the north side of the mountain mostly up gravel/dirt roads to the top.  The lookout tower seemed to have been boarded up so we went to a trailhead nearby and played for awhile.  After we explored the mountain some more, we headed back down to Grants and then on back to ABQ.  But, alas our trip wasn't over....we got a few miles down the interstate and discovered we had a very flat tire.  So we spent an hour on the side of the road waiting for AAA to come change our flat.  The kids didn't mind it because we watched several trains go by and we played with the lava rocks down in the ditch on the other side of the service road!  When we made it back to ABQ we went to dinner, but we had a very tired little one who made dining out a rather short one!  We hope you had a fun Saturday too! Here are some pictures we took today.  Enjoy!

Do I have a cute family or what?!

We drove up to that lookout tower, but it was boarded up.

We walked about a 100 yds down a 4x4 road near where we parked to play in the snow.  Check out Jack's right leg!

Kate's turn!

hanging out waiting on AAA to come

finding the perfect lava rock to take home!  (Kate even named hers, Antlee, declared to us that her rock was a girl....put it in a cracker box covered it with a blankie (paper towel) and it's sleeping in her bed tonight!)

Jack's 1st baseball game

I knew it had been awhile since I last wrote on our blog, but I didn't realize just how long it's really been. So I'll try and catch up! :) For starters, here are some pictures from Jack's first t-ball game last Friday.  His team is the METS and for those of you that know Jimmy, that's fine for two reasons 1. it is NOT the Yankees and 2. the METS are not in the Red Sox's division...............
He started off the game playing in right field.

First time at bat, he hit it on the second pitch up the center of the field!

Heading to 2nd base!

The second time the Mets took the field, Jack played 1st base.  A couple of times he had to tell the player on 1st that he needed to run to 2nd!

Go to 2nd!

On his second (and last) time to bat, he ended up batting off of the tee (3 pitches from the coach and then a tee is brought out).  His hit went clear up center field almost to the fence!  Here he is coming in to home and "sliding".  :)

Well, it was more like a topple.  He was so proud of himself!!

Good Game!
