Trip to the Coast & Cooley Peninsula

The second weekend in January found us heading out to the coast.  We had the Cooley Peninsula (about 1 1/2 hours north of Dublin as our targeted destination with a few stops along the coast to look for seashells. We were about an hour north of Dublin when we stopped at Port Beach.  After we bundled up and put on our wellies, we spent probably an hour combing the beach for treasures.  After that we headed north to the Cooley Peninsula.  For the first half of the drive around the peninsula, we found most of the mountains covered in fog.  We ended up at another beach, but it was very windy by then so we didn't stay long.  Here are a few pictures from the two beaches we went to.

There was a sign in the parking lot with information about the wildlife found at Port Beach.  It showed a picture of a starfish, which I found hard to believe since there were no rocks on the beach for them to cling to.  But low and behold, look what I found as we were walking along the beach!

The kids were really excited as well!

Luke was especially excited after we had told him that it was his first time seeing a starfish at the beach (Jack & Kate saw them in Oregon.  Now whether they actually remember seeing them or not is a different story.)

It's really cold here and my wellies are full of water!

Mine are too!  Can we go home now?!
